Overview
Responsible for coordinating social services for clients in Itasca County, Minnesota and managing the Minnesota HeatShare program for four (4) Northern Minnesota counties. Assists with special projects to benefit Itasca County residents such as camp, community clothing/coat distributions, Back-to-School, Angel Tree and other Christmas distributions. This is a regular part time position with a workweek expectation of 20 hours per week.
Responsibilities
Provides casework to clients in accordance with the stated goals, policies, and procedures of The Salvation Army Service Extension Program following the Itasca County assistance guidelines and EFSP guidelines. Maintains client records and provides, in a timely manner, all necessary data and statistical information including cases assisted, type of assistance given, agency consultations, client categories, etc. Collaborates with other community resources to jointly meet client needs and makes referrals as needed. Performs public speaking when requested by service organizations. Assists the Itasca County Service Unit in planning and implementing seasonal activities as determined by the Service Unit (Christmas assistance, camp, coat drives, Back-to-School, etc.). Maintain accurate records and statistics of all activities by entering client data into HMIS. Works with and maintains a relationship with the local service unit attend monthly meetings, reports on current programs and projects, and assists Service Unit and Service Extension Department with recruiting of additional service unit members as needed. Help recruit, support and motivate volunteers for special projects. Manage Minnesota HeatShare program utilizing program guidelines in assigned counties and maintain accurate records on clients. Provide spiritual support to and pray with clients as requested. Completes other jobs as assigned by the Service Extension Director.
Qualifications
Associate's degree or 1 year work experience in a social service setting. Possess excellent computer skills, proficient in Word, spreadsheet and database programs, an aptitude in both written and oral communication, type 40 wpm, be well organized and efficient, be able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks, have excellent interpersonal skills, and be trustworthy, especially in confidential matters. Must be willing to support the mission of The Salvation Army, pass required background checks, and meet the drivers MVR qualifications. It must be understood by the incumbent that the position is subject to the requirements of Safe From Harm upon commencement of employment and that the required Safe From Harm training program must be satisfactorily completed within the first thirty (30) days of employment. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
